NMRA 2018 Kansas City Convention - August 5-12, 2018 National Model Railroad Association

The NMRA Operations Special Interest Group's (OPSIG) principal purpose is to develop and disseminate ways of operating model railroads in a realistic manner that emulates prototype practices. This includes the discussion and communication on the various methods of generating, moving and controlling traffic that serves shippers and consignees and the ways to most practically and realistically adapting them to the model world. For more information or to join, visit our website at http://www.opsig.org.

OPSIG Activities
Operating Sessions - As part of our mission to foster the operation of our model railroads in a prototypic manner, OPSIG will again be sponsoring operating sessions before, during, and after the convention. Most of these will occur in the evening during the convention week, however arrangements may also be made for "enroute" op sessions to be available to those individuals driving to and from the convention; either on the Sunday before and on the Sunday after. Attending one or more of these sessions will be the perfect way to start or end your week!

See our listing of KC2018 operating sessions in an upcoming issue of the Dispatcher's Office. The DO will contain descriptions of each layout and the dates and times of sessions.

If you are interested in attending an op session, come to the OPSIG room during the convention and you can sign up for any sessions that have unfilled slots.

Other OPSIG Activities

  • Annual Membership Meeting - The annual membership meeting will be at 2 pm on Monday August 6 in the SIG room.

  • OPSIG Booth - The OPSIG booth will be staffed during the day to answer any questions you may have about current or future OPSIG activities; joining or renewing your membership and to sell OPSIG merchandise and publications. This will also be where those who have signed up for operating sessions will gather each evening at 4:30 pm to ensure everyone is present and has a ride.

Looking forward to seeing you in August 2018
